My Prayer

Well, as I said in my last blog, my daughter who've I've raised for 20 years has moved out and is moving on. I came across a portion of Scripture I have read time and time again and have decided it is a prayer I need to commit to praying for her as she becomes an adult and all of the growing pains associated with that transition.  The verses I refer to say, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe…” Ephesians 1:18-19.  This will be my prayer for my precious daughter.  Written many, many years ago, it is so appropriate for today.  It never ceases to amaze me how AWESOME our God is.

Introduction

Well, I've posted a few book reviews on here, but have done nothing else.  I think it has come time for me to blog about more than just the books I've read and more about who I am and what my heart has to say.
First off, welcome to my blog!  My name is Melissa.  I have recently become both a Pastor's wife and an empty nester.  I am adjusting to both of these new roles in life and let me tell you it is an adventure!!!
I met my husband in Bible College and from the moment we met, I knew he was the one.  I don't know how but I just knew.  We were married a short 9 months from the time we met.  We've recently celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary and our love is stronger today than it was in the beginning!  As I said earlier, he has recently accepted a pastorate.  The church is a small country church and we love the people there.  The

Ups and Downs

I have always been a John and Stasi Eldredge fan.  Their books hit right where they need to.  This book was no exception. Though I would consider myself to have a pretty decent marriage, all marriages have their times of what would see like war.  I appreciate the Eldredges' openness and transparency in this book.  A must read for anyone going through any type of difficulty in their marriage or any couple just starting out.
WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group provided this book to me for free in exchange for this honest review as part of their Blogging for Books program.

To Be Perfectly Honest by Phil Callaway is the first book I have received from Blogging for Books and I must say I am NOT disappointed.  In this book, author Phil Callaway sets out to tell nothing but the truth to everyone he comes in contact with for an entire year.  He struggles some, as most of us would, with questions such as do I go back and make things right with people I've lied to in the past? Do I tell my wife the whole truth when she asks if the dress makes her look fat? and so on.
I enjoyed reading the struggles he faced at times with honesty and just how honest to be.
I would recommend this book to any believer whether they have been on their Christian journey one day or several years.  In the back of the book Phil has discussion questions for each chapter so this book would also serve as a great Bible study or readers' circle book.“I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review”.*
